I am loving the dark Old West, saloon inspired styling in this editorial for German Vogue shot by Alex Lubomirski. Abby Lee Kershaw and Matthew Hutchinson are perfect together and bring to mind outlawed lovers.
I must admit, talking of 'The Old West' as a theme, i have been inspired style-wise recently by real life Western Belles like Ann Bassett and Pearl Hart.
During their time, some of the acts these women committed were amazing for their time. Some went up against the court, lawmen or stood up for womens rights.
When i am putting outfits together, i am constantly inspired by one historical / fictional character or another. Be it Eponine from Les Miserables, a circus performer in a photograph from 1923 i once saw, or a picture of Rogue from an old X-men comic.
I was naughty last week and bought a pair of All Saints boots in the sale because they were called 'Annie' (after famous outlaw Annie Oakley maybe?) and they looked like they had a story to tell.
