The Strangers

When i came across this collaboration between esteemed knitwear designer Sandra Backlund and the photographer Denise Grunstein, my breath literally caught in my throat. The use of child-size models and bright colours set against the eerie winter woodland scene conjures an immediate feeling of unease and foreboding. It straight away reminded me of the horror film, 'The Strangers', by director Bryan Bertino (2008), and the masks the three assailants wear as they terrorize the two central characters, a couple staying in an isolated holiday home.
Although the pictures give me a major case of the heebie-jeebies, i can't stop looking at them. What a fantastic collaboration.
