A kind of retro sci-fi theme seemed to run through almost every show on the Thursday... Balenciaga sent out clothing that wouldn't look out of place on an intergalactic air hostess. Brows were painted pastel shades of green, pink and blue. 60's inspired skirt-suits and dresses in shades of mint, biscuit, marl grey and sky blue along side winged jackets. Dresses and structured tops with words and slogans woven into them ended the show perfectly. Little bit Trekky-Very, very cool!
Arora took 1920's silhouettes and motifs and transformed them into futuristic costumes. Sequin flapper dresses in citrus shades and suits with structured hips and shoulders dominated the show as did the fantastic coloured wigs and neon make up. My favourite pieces in the show were the over-sized fibre optic headphones the models wore in the final five minutes--fit for any space-age pilot.
